Van Morrison at Birmingham - A cold night (zero deg) and a bit of a surprise. The show started at 8pm on the dot, Van the Man from the word go, so no support act. Van MorrisonHis six piece band were generally sharp with a few glitches but Van was in fine form on vocals, sax, guitar, harmonica even with what seemed like a touch of a cold. Through the standards and some new tracks - notable was a reworking of "Have I told you that I love You lately" at a very different tempo. Finishing with "Gloria" Van left the stage at just after 9.30pm to general confusion and most of the audience wondering if he was coming back. No, the lights came up and that was it! 1 1/2 hours for £30 each. A good show but not the best we have seen.

We both had Friday, 22 Nov off work and took our time driving to South Wales, Glamorgan.  It was the first time we had crossed the Mouth of the Severn - there are two massive bridges from which to chose to cross.  We did the Severn Bridge on the way over, paying £4.50 at the toll gate.  We stopped off in Chepstow for a little look around and cup of coffee.  After months of searching over the past year, we unexpectedly found a deep cup muffin tray in a pokey sized shop in Tin Pan Alley, much to our excitement. (Reminders of home...)

History of Milton Keynes

Mk2 200x133  Because Milton Keynes is famous as a new city, visitors to the borough could be forgiven for assuming that it has no history - nothing could be further from the truth!

The building of the new town provided a unique opportunity to study and record the archaeology and landscape history of some 22,000 acres of countryside.

The Milton Keynes Development Corporation, charged with the task of building the new city, employed a team or archaeologists who located and excavated many sites in the area, making it, in effect, one of the largest archaeological sites in the country in its day.
